3 Books That Inspire Self Authenticity

This summer, I’ve spent many evenings curled up reading books that teach us how to powerfully embrace the truth of who we are and the purpose we are meant to unfold. The opposite of truth, purpose and alignment, is living a life that is driven by “should’s and have to’s”. It’s easy to get caught up in being who we have been conditioned to be or who we think we can be. Shifting into true authenticity requires knowledge and daily practice.

Here are three books that beautifully inspire the idea that we can be more of who we are at a core level and less of who we are not:

1. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
This book is full of many beautiful and powerful life lessons. It reinforces the idea that we each have been given a personal mission to fulfill.  Paulo refers to this as our “Personal Legend”. He masterfully writes about the realization that the magic is not in achieving our purpose, but rather the personal evolution that we experience on our way to self actualization.  That is where the real power lies.

One of my favorite lines in the book:

“Dying in the midst of trying to realize your Personal Legend is a lot better than dying like millions of other people, who never even knew what their Personal Legends were”.

2. The Law of Divine Compensation by Marianne Williamson
Marianne Williamson as you may know, is a highly acclaimed spiritual teacher and New York Times best-selling author.  Her teachings are based on A Course in Miracleswhich is a body of work grounded in the idea that love and inner peace is achieved through forgiveness.  In The Law of Divine Compensation, Marianne reveals the spiritual principles that help us overcome financial stress and unleash the divine power of abundance.  It’s a profound book that lovingly breaks down the illusion of lack and provides a road map for creating abundance.

One of my favorite lines in the book:

“In our ability to think about something differently lies the power to make it different”.

3. Mama Gena’s School of Womanly Arts by Regena Thomashauer
If you don’t know who Mama Gena is, I recommend that you get to know her.  She teaches women how to use the power of pleasure to design totally fulfilling lives.  Her work is a beautiful integration of feminine and masculine energy.  As women, it’s so easy to deny ourselves the things that bring us pure joy and pleasure.  This book will help you get reacquainted with the sassy in you!

One of my favorite lines in the book:

“Taking control of yourself for your ultimate pleasure is the new millennium equivalent to unbinding your feet; it creates a power in you that you may have never enjoyed before”.
